Take nothing for granted

Recently I lost my new glasses after only having them for a few weeks. I very seldom wear them for long and have been known to take them off at work or a friend’s place and leave them behind. I had been to a house wedding the previous week so when the bride and groom returned home I asked them if they had seen my wayward glasses. ‘Oh yes,’ was the reply, ‘they are in our lounge room waiting for their owner to claim them’. It was good to know they were somewhere safe and I could stop searching. The next evening my friend brought the glasses and handed them to my son as I wasn’t home. Unfortunately when I looked they weren’t mine at all, which seemed puzzling to me, after all how many people go around leaving glasses behind. Apparently it isn’t just me.
I returned the glasses and hopefully they were reunited with their real owner. Then my son suggested I have a proper look for mine. Good idea I thought and started with my car. I’m ashamed to say I found them in five minutes, they had fallen under the car seat.
Now the lost has been found I have determined to look after them more carefully. My son bought me a chain to wear around my neck. So far, I haven’t used that, but I may have to in the future.
If only I had asked my friend to describe the glasses she had found in her home it would have saved a lot of bother. It’s a lesson learned.

I leave mine lying around a lot because I don't need them all the time. However I do need them for driving so it would be quite a problem if I lost them. Fortunately it hasn't happened to me yet because I'm very careful about where I put them.
