While looking up the pros and cons to using canola oil, I found a site with good information on that topic. I left that tab open on my browser overnight. When I got up this morning, something different was on the page. A did you know... @jabouk, Did you know that... Only 20% of Americans have Passports Janet wrote a discussion about how many Europeans travel outside their countries and was surprised that many Americans do not. It's an interesting thing to read about our bodies, animals, countries and many other tidbits we probably didn't know. It looks like the info isnt' there when you open the page, but if you leave the tab open and check later I'd think it would come alive. If not let me know please.
Rapeseed is the seed of a rape plant, and is also known as oilseed or rapa. There are two main types of rapeseed: industrial and...

I recently found my old passport from when I traveled to Italy. Now that we need a passport to travel to Canada, I just might get another one "just in case". I'd love to go back to Canada and travel a bit! :)

I don't think you need a passport to travel to Canada, but you need something to re-enter the US easily. You'll either need a passport or an extended license. It could be that only the border states have those available where you buy your normal driver's license. The ones Michigan has looks like a regular driving license except it costs a bit more, but not as much as passports do. Depending on what state you live in might determine whether that's an option for you or not. I'd love to revisit Montreal, but I'm not sure that I'll ever make it there. I did get an extended license to see a play in Stratford. My two sisters go there several times per year and invited me to go one of the final years my mother joined them.

@Morleyhunt For Michiganders, they only need to get an expanded license, they don't have to have a passport. THe expanded licenses will give entry back to the US from Canada, and many of the islands south of Florida that many Americans visit. I don't know whether all states have these available, or just those border states to Canada.

@MarshaMusselman passport is needed to travel to Canada, similarly we need a passport to travel to the US. At one time all I needed was my birth certificate, but 9/11 brought many changes.

I'm one of the 20% who have traveled throughout the US and overseas more times than I can count.

That's great, Dianne. And for some reason, I almost missed your comment here. I can usually catch most shortly after they arrive and take some time to delete them as I go, for the rest I double check before they are deleted by the system. This is the first I noticed you stopped by this post.

@DianneN Now I'm the one behind. I've been trying to get through the ones almost a week old for a few days now, but my flash player keeps either crashing or wanting me to reload it, making it very slow to get through very far. I save it to evernote so I can get the ones I missed from a week ago yesterday. Even though I already saved the ones that will disappear tomorrow am, I'm still trying to get them taken care of before that if possible.

@MarshaMusselman I'm glad you caught me! I have been so behind since we returned from Florida. Glad I caught you, too!

I see plenty of fields with yellow flowers of rape plants along the toll roads that goes from Switzerland to Italy. I left the tab open but I had no popups. I think that my antivirus blocks the popups.

I don't think the antivirus blocks popups unless they're harmful, but you could have that off on your browser settings. You wouldn't see the particular message I put here anyway, but it's interesting what all is displayed.

Yes it came round when I waited. I did say in my post that it depends what site you use as to the statistic that pops up. I found that it was anywhere between 22% and 40%, so used the higher one.

I didn't double-check your post first. I actually forgot that you mentioned any percentage at all. I just remembered that you were surprised that so few Americans had passports or traveled outside their areas.

@crazyhorseladycx All sites do that anyway. I use a security suite and malware detector. I don't think the popup causes any more junk than normal sites would, or maybe I'm just kept from it automatically. I'm not begging nor expecting anyone to check it out. Just provided the link in case anyone wanted to know where I got my statistics from.

I don't know that it's garbage, but it's not something that we necessarily need to know either, I suppose.

That is interesting that something else was on the page when you woke up. I thought Americans love to travel. Israelis love to travel. A lot like to go abroad.

A lot of Americans do travel, but many will only travel to other states within the US. For those that work for some of the major corporations, they probably travel each week. Some are sent to other countries for five years at a time. There's a wide mix of people here, some travel a lot, some travel very little, many cannot afford to travel. My brother has taken his family on several cruises and has been to Alaska, Mexico and some of the islands in the south. The only ones in my family that have ever been to Europe is my two daughters. I've been to Canada more than once, and to Hawaii and Guatemala once with our church. We may wish to go abroad, but not everyone can afford to do that.

This makes perfect sense because Americans have less need to go overseas for a holiday. You could fly from New York to Honolulu as a domestic flight, whereas from England we need to go abroad to cover any real distance from home.

Everyone should have one.No matter if you are not going out of the country. But they should have most time visiting other states or so

They are a bit expensive if you don't plan on travelling abroad, Alfredo, for most Americans anyway. If passports lasted a lifetime, maybe it would be okay to purchase them before you knew if you'd ever travel, but I don't think that's money well-spent.

I can't leave tabs open on my computer. After just a short time I need to reboot the whole computer because nothing moves otherwise.

Living in Canada, we have to have a passport to go to United States. I have had one for many years, as I visit the US often.
