Declutter challenge

Japan

Our school has an enormous rummage sale on the third Friday of April. This is a good opportunity for all of us to get rid of clutter that might be useful to someone else. Usually I prepare for this during Christmas vacation and spring break, but I was in the States during both breaks dealing with my mom's health. So now I have two weeks to find things I would like to sell at this rummage sale. If I tell you all now, maybe it will make me do something so I can give you a positive report. Do you have anything that you can use that acts as a goal to declutter?

Usually it is guests coming to stay and I've allowed a few things to accumulate in the spare bedroom! That is quite an incentive for me.

Guests definitely are a motivator.

@allknowing When I start decluttering ,I hesitate to discard most of the items. So there is not much progress.

I have not taken part in any yard sale before. Most of the people here buy new, or we just bring the items down to recycling center.

I don't have much clutter, but still could give away a few things and could live without them. Maybe the dollar signs would help you.

Yen signs. Most Thrift Shop days I make about 25-30 dollars.

i envy those who are can make quick decisions on each item (keep, toss, fix, sell, donate) and finish in one go.

I don't throw the old things away because they can be recycled and can be renewed.

I don't either. I give them away or sell them at Thrift Shop.

Be accountable to someone that you will do it, and you will find the motivation to do it.

It is hard to get rid of things, sometimes you look at something you haven't used in awhile, but you convince yourself that you might want it later.
