You chance to come across someone who had been your childhood friend.He recognizes you,but you fail to remember who he is.If you ask him who he is,it would mean you have forgotten him,and he might get hurt.
What would you do in such an embarrassing situation?

I often forget peoples names but not the face.

@TiarasOceanView,As he says,he is meeting me for the first time after our childhood which means we are seeing each other after long 22-25 years.Faces undergo a sea change during such a long time.I could not recognise his face.Tonight I am going to meet him again.

I've experience this before when I was busy working at the bank, a certain customer asked my help to get her money from WU because we cater that service, she keeps on talking to me and smiled a lot but I know, I met her before, I just forget her name, what I did is, I just read her WU form and there, I saw her name and we talk, it seems that I don"t forget her.

@ida123,And I found myself in the same embarrassing situation when today morning a young man rushed to me and,before I could understand anything,took me in a warm embrace.I tried hard and again and again to remember who he is,but ended up reminding nothing.He was recalling our childhood memories,but I still can't remember who he is.And there was nobody else who could help me....Hence this discussion.

@AbbyGreenhill,This fellow is one among my friends who had left for distant cities and got settled there.There families are still here.Some of them often come here to visit their families.This guy has come here for the first time after leaving.....I think,I should summon courage to tell him the truth though it would not be easy.

be honest, simply say that you are sorry, you know you should know him, but have some issues with long term memory, and know you should know him, but cant quite remember who. he might be hurt, but he will figure it out if you try and fake it

@Jessicalynnt,That's what I will do tonight if by then I fail to recall who he is and what his name is.I will then ask him directly,but very politely what his name is.Once I gather his name,I would recall everything about my childhood.I am going to meet him again tonight.

generally i remember not only friend but also thing and incident of my childhood as my memory is sharp but if this kind of situation come i dont think he hurt as he know we met after long time so may be due to that we forget but as we recognize him they dont mind as we are in happy mood after long tome meet....
