I totally forgot that this week is Employee Appreciation Week at my job. The whole place is decorated and each day has some strange event or potluck going on. Yesterday we had free pizza - which was great! Since then I didnt have to buy lunch. I have many coworkers that are disgruntled after being at the company for 20+ years and they are not so enthudiastic about this and about upper management in general.... But I think its cool. do you ever have this at your job?

We have free lunches quite often where I work. In fact today is pegged as nacho (not your) regular Monday, and there will be nachos, chees and all of the fixings for us in the lunch room.

@maezee The company buys for us. I work at a company that has our office, which is the main office and 1 in another province. The owner is in our building daily. Nacho regular Monday was a hit today.

With my previous jobs, we usually have free food even if it's not Employee Appreciation Week. Also, they give lots of freebies during Christmas, New Year, Company Anniversaries, et.al.

I don't think we have an 'employee appreciation day' in the company I work for, but we do track morale and callnit 'engagement'. -- how engaged are the employees in the work that they do. It is tracked thru regular surveys which translates to a number-average. If the average falls to a certain number, then the company would know that morale is low. And then we have incentive programs to keep as 'engaged' like reward-points. You get some points if you work over and beyond what was necessary, and you get recognized for it.

Every year our top management appreciate employees who worked here for more than 25 years . They are given good amount of money as per their designation and I think it's good way to motivate them

It's a commendable thing to have you as employers appreciated by having outstanding treats.

Yes! I would think so. Not all businesses do it.

We only had free pizza shared by a co-worker. My boss was not a giver unfortunately.

That is sad. Most companies I had ever worked for were also super cheap - they thought a ten cent raise was appreciating employees.

This Sint something I have experienced. Last week we had a National Caregivers day. In honour of that day I got to clean up an awful lot of excrement.
