So, What Would You Say?

I remembered an episode that just fascinated me from a tv show called "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" . This one couple that was getting married had a story that amazed me. I am not sure if they had the worst of luck or are actually a very lucky pair. I just know that their story was quite amazing to me. They met and had been dating a while when the lady found out she had cancer, she fought it and won. Then the man had been in New York when he got mugged, they stabbed him in the side of his neck and he was lying, bleeding, when someone found him and got him help, he survived that ordeal. Then the lady found out she was pregnant and their child was born with a cleft palate, they got a very good doctor though, who operated on the child and now it has a perfect little mouth. So, what would you say? Having survived and overcome all of that, are they the luckiest couple you have ever heard about or with everything they went through are they the unluckiest couple you have heard of? I am not certain, I just know it made me count my blessings again.

They stayed together and strong through it all. I won't say lucky or unlucky. I would say a strong and devoted couple definitely!

luck is in them because they survived the physical challenges that life gave them. I believe they are born lucky.

I think they should thank God everyday for the blessing that they have in each other and their child, they had bad luck but they are a lucky couple.

They are both very lucky and very unlucky! Last month a day before the 7th birthday of my grandson I got just 5 dollars in my wallet. I got no money in my one and only bank account . . no credit cards (I discarded them all) . . and payday was 3 days away. I dropped by my favorite convenience store and bought a cup of coffee and a 3 dollar worth of point spread NBA (basketball) lotto ticket. I checked the ticket the next morning . . and got really surprised that I won $90.00! I hurriedly returned home and greeted our grandson "Happy Birthday" (his family lives with us) and handed him $70! That is what I call very lucky!

@antonbunot , I think it was a mix of both too. Oh wow, that is fantastic, congrats on winning the $90.00 and in time to be able to give some as a gift to your grandson! :) A very belated Happy birthday to him :)

Hardships are inevitable. They have nothing to do with our luck. Its just karma. They are lucky to survive the test of time and be together

@Sweetsona , yes, that is certainly another way of looking at things and they are lucky to survive the test of time, because time does indeed test us, and be together.

But God never stopped extending His mercy to them. And those trials made them stronger and better persons I believe. God has always a reason why he allows certain things to happen to us. But like you I am so thankful to God that although I have my own shares of difficulties in this life, it has never been as big as those of the couple.

@salonga , yes. They did face a lot, and thankfully they survived and became stronger. And I agree, I am thankful my difficulties are mild compared to what they went through.

Well, I cannot say that they were lucky, because if they were lucky they would not suffered all the problems. They had luck in their misfortune.

@LadyDuck , I think that best describes their story, they were unlucky to go through those trials, but, lucky it all turned out well.

@PainsOnSlate , I do too, and from what I saw at the end of the episode, they were very happy to be alive and have a healthy and happy child, after the successful operation on the palate.

Not exactly a blissful life, but who is problem free anyway? It is wonderful that they overcame their tragedies and are still together. They sound strong and happy, and that's what counts.

I'm not sure, like, seeing things my family went through, my mom says we are lucky and blessed, and one could say huh? One could say it was bad they went through it all...or, a blessing they survived...but for me it's this way, if a person has love, and that love survived all those things, a lot of ppl don't have that, so even from the beginning I count it as a blessing.

@HebrewGreekStudies , yeah. I've been thinking on it, and I say that they now know they are strong and overcame a lot, so, they will go from strength to strength. And their love is a blessing.

It's hard to understand when bad things happen to good people, especially to the degree of this couple.

They survived it so that makes them lucky, but I think they're unlucky. Its a good reminder to count our blessings.
