The second bank goes down

Just months after the Imperial Bank(Kenyan branch) was put under receivership ,the Kenyan Chase bank just last week followed the same fate.It started with rumors in Twitter that this bank was nearly collapsing and so most depositors made the last minute rush withdrawing their cash, something which the Central Bank Governor partly gave as the reason why the bank went down terming it massive withdrawals. This is unfortunate bearing in mind of the many Kenyans who have been banking with these two institutions. The directors of the collapsed banks have been accused of awarding themselves billions of shillings in terms of unpaid loans thus adversely affecting the banks. It's the hope of everyone that the law makers will make a law to put on check such directors in the future.

It's so sad for a bank to suffer losses to the extent of collapsing.

Sorry to hear the fate of the 2 banks in your place, it's really sad to have that experience and I can relate that.

Such a scenario sends a scary signal to other people in other banks because unless something is done to counter this, some other banks may also follow the same route..
