Enthused by the post written by @Jabo I would also like to say something about the first house I lived in. Although I was born in our ancestral home we shifted to the new house my father built when I was just a year old. The house was built on the property that belonged to mother. My father designed that house and till today it is there strong as ever. My niece lives there now with here family. It is a biggish house with many rooms. Father being a town planner had a separate room which we called 'father's office' where he would draw plans for houses and public places. Mother and father had their own room. We had a dressing room, a storeroom, a big hall, a portico, a big dining room a study room for us kids and a kitchen. We had three toilets in the yard. Once father expired we girls shifted to his room to keep our books and study there.

Your ancestral house looks big and nice and just think of that, you have 3 toilet rooms. You need many helpers to do the chores.

@allknowing That is still a big house for 10 people living, I can imagine the maintenance of doing the chores. It is not easy to maintain such a big house, like our ancestral house, it's so big for them wherein most of our helpers can't do the chores daily.

Lots of memories were made in that home. Three toilets in the yard? A home built from the ground up. That was a blessing. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Those days properly constructed toilets were supposed to be rare

My father was kind of a designer - not an architect - and he was into that kind of a job any way..
