Early Visitor

We had an early morning visitor. I stood there and watched him for a few minutes, and then went inside to assemble my camera. I figured he would be gone by the time I got back outside, but he was still there, posing for the picture. Isn't he just beautiful?

Amazingly, it didn't, and the flash even popped up. I think maybe this wasn't his first photo shoot.

Beautiful bird .... fantastic photo. The best I get are those of the mourning doves, but around here they aren't all that people shy cuz so many feed them.

Yes, we get those too. We put food on the ground below the bird feeders for them (and the squirrels...).

I saw one of these characters last fall. I know they exist in this area but they are more often heard pecking away on something than seen.
