10 years and it's still happening

I've had this dream for almost 10 years. I don't know how to explain this dream without people thinking I've lost my mind but here it goes. This dream I've been having has this guy in it and these places. It's almost like I'm there, like a lucid dream if you'd label that that. But not exactly, I can can smell him, feel him, hear his voice, everything is so fine-tuned. The part that was interesting was when time went on so did the dreams, the places this guy lived. To the point recently, it was an apartment, me taking an elevator to the 4th floor. For what seems like forever, I didn't make much of these dreams until one day, I was searching the internet, and I realized that the last place this guy was at, was an actual place. That and a dream I had about him and a sailboat (which I've never been on in my life) how explained how a sailboat worked was spot on, and I know I wouldn't have seen these places or as far as the sailboats concerned, I wouldn't have cared. I really don't like sail boats. So out of some strange curiosity, I asked in one of those psychic groups on Facebook what's going on, because there were nights I didn't want to sleep, not because the dreams were bad but because they were so interesting I didn't want to wake up in the morning. I was slowly explained to what has been coined accidental dream invasion, which is a lot like the notion of astral projection that happens only in dreams. After countless google searches, I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. I was very skeptical to believe it. The thing that keeps playing in the back of my mind if it makes any sense is, this person I'm dreaming of is more than likely a flesh and bone human if they are right, (because there's no way I could have thought of all of this stuff up that actually exists and happens) then that means, he must be dreaming the same things. That he must be out there.. I was also told that one day I will find this person But what am I going to do if they are right? Will this person know what's going on, or will they also think I'm crazy? Then how would I explain this to anyone else. Nobody else is going to believe it So last night was another one of those dreams, I'm sure of it. There hasn't been much more progress in my dreams not much more progress at all. It just left me thinking about this person again, and how to find them. I'm kind of wondering though has anyone else had dreams like this? I really can't be the only one if this phenomenon actually has a name. Has anyone ever had a dream about someone that they thought was just in their dream and they actually existed? I'm not sure what to make of it.

You aren't the only one. I've had similar dreams for over 4 years. No idea what they mean but I often feel very depressed when I wake up and realise the dream isn't real. I can't say anyone in my dreams actually exists as such so there's a difference there.

@polyxena I've just this very minute responded to a discussion about sleep and dreams. You aren't the only one. I'll link to what I just responded to. It isn't exactly the same as your discussion but has similarities.
Has anyone else here woken themselves up by thrashing around in their sleep? I have several time recently. It's really odd, the first time I remembered doing...

@Mike197602 So did I, :) I noticed her discussion. This almost makes me want to write a book about sleep. I see dream dictionaries galore but when it comes to stuff like thrashing, or stuff like this, there's like nothing .

@polyxena The only dreams that have stuck out were when I was killed in a dream. I've not had that kind of dream not for maybe 6/8 months.

This sounds like a classic RTZ something like an AP (astral projection) but in the physical (real time zone). The next time you are lucid during one of these 'dreams' ask the guy what it is he either needs or wants you to know.
