Is he a disciplinarian or is he being over-protective?

I have one brother who is not close to me. It was because since I was a kid, whenever I did something wrong, he will hurt me physically. He has this impatient attitude that made our parents and him to have a fight and he decided to move away with us.
When our father died, he came back with us. I thought he already changed but I was wrong. Last night, my sister and her bf went to my sister's dentist. Our mom knew that my sister will be with her bf and it is normal to my mom since her bf has been a good man. However, when my brother found out that, he got angry. He did not like that idea that they will go to the dentist at night. Mom told him that the schedule of the dentist is always at night and it is good that someone protects my sister outside. We know her bf and they soon will get married. But my brother thinks it is too improper for them to be out at night.
I am not sure if I am just being biased. But I think, he should not act that way since our sister is on the right age already. What my brother always want is that we will tell him everything we are going to do especially when it comes to our boyfriend. I have felt like he sees us as dolls operated by a machine. Sometimes I feel he wants us act as robots that will obey whatever he says.

@LdeL0318 He is old enough to reflect on his own attitude. He is the oldest among the four of us. I think just because he is the oldest, he always think he cannot be wrong.

Mom said it might be because my brother suffered from convulsion when he was still a baby. I do not know if having a very high fever to the point of dying when you were a baby affect one's behavior when he grows up. I hope someone can enlighten me with this one.

I am annoyed with his attitude even before when I was a kid. When I told him thay he was very bad, he then slapped my face. And now that he has a son, I pity my nephew. It is because he will hurt the child even just for a very single mistake. I do not know why he cannot just remind the child with firm words. Why does he still need to hurt his own child.
