Children Anyone?
Was just reading through "20 crazy facts from history" and came across this one. Apparently in Paris back in 1911, an orphanage needed children adopted out and they needed funding. So they decided that a baby raffle was in order.
I suppose they made a lot of wanting parents very happy...
Here's the article
What I was reading about is on page 3.
Any other histories from this article you like?

We'd hope all the babies were healthy, but then there is a chance you may not know if it is or isn't until you get it home.

I wouldn't think things like that would happen either, but well regulations / laws were non existing back then.

Nothing like that would ever happen now. I'd like to think people were kinder, gentler then, but there's still the possibility children went to unfit homes.

@LadyDuck Oh okay well then that is very good. The article here didn't go into detail about it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I do not believe that children went to unfit homes, I have read that they checked before giving the children, it was a sort of adoption after all

That was a cool article. I didn't know about the mad hats, and the baby cages.

I hadn't read through the whole article as I was sort of busy at the time, but plan to read through it more later.
