My son seems to be in this phase where he wants to eat but doesn't eat the food he asks for. No instead he decides to just make a mess and throw it everywhere. I am at the point where I am going to go back to feeding him every 4 hours. Even when he asks for foods he still just throws it all over the place. Tonight, like most nights lately, he refused to eat what he was given for dinner. Now that it is 11pm he is hungry and wants to eat. I just gave him cereal cause I am not cooking anything right now. He seems to be eating it, and just eating it, so maybe I need to only feed him main meals and no snacks to ensure he eats his meals. Sick and tired of giving him food that he just wastes. I don't know why he has started wasting all his food, but I have more than once thought about not feeding him after dinner time even if he doesn't eat dinner. I just can't because as his mother I would feel like an awful mother for doing so. I really hope he cuts this out soon. Have you ever had to deal with this behavior in a kid? How did you handle it? Do you think I would be wrong for just letting him go hungry until it is time for the next meal if he doesn't eat the previous one?

Well for a dog I avoided feeding it because it would do the same thing. After a while it got the message that it was time to eat.

You can try to make the meal colorful. Sometimes children are so playful even during meal time. Some mommies used to cook meal with different shapes in their ingredients.

My daughter at age 6 didn't want to eat the meat on her plate. I told her she wasn't leaving the table til she did. She said she wasn't hungry. My mom came walking out of the kitchen with a bowl of ice cream. My daughter 'thought' she was going to eat it. I told her if she wasn't hungry to finish her meat, she wasn't hungry to eat ice cream either. She sat at the table until midnight; when she finally finished the meat. Kids are manipulators @IvySaysHi . Do your regular food times and if he doesn't want to cooperate, he will have to wait for the next meal. Trust me, he'll get the message quickly.
