Back in the 1990's and early 2000's, the Colorado chapter of the American Red Cross held a two-day mountain bike festival, called the Fat Tire Classic, in Winter Park.
One year, five of us, Team Freak members all, had finished with the trails and had ridden back down into the valley (fun fact: there are 600 miles of trails in the Frazier Valley.)
We were taking a break when the event photographer drove up and asked if he could take a photo of us, which he did. We asked him to take one with our disposable camera, which he did, only with his thumb in the picture. The thumb of a professional photog, of all things.
Anyway, the official photo turned out so well that they used it for the next year's brochure. Team Freak had made the brochure!
I still have a copy somewhere, but I also have it stored on Facebook. That is the photo up there. I am the one second to the right. Our pose was cheesy, but I guess that's what they wanted, because there we are, inside, right next to the registration page.
We figured world domination was next, but that still hasn't panned out.

I don't even have access to my road bike anymore. I just ride my mountain bike everywhere.

@toniganzon - I do miss my road bike sometimes, though. What do you ride? I've got a Trek Fuel Ex-7.

These kind of events are really taking off. There is one here that takes place over a weekend and you carry your own camping gear, are given points to visit and plan your own route. Mountain biking, tea and cake what more could you ask for!
An event like no other! In aid of Wales Air Ambulance. Latest News The WRT takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend of 30th April - 2nd May. Entry is £20 per rider and includes T shirt, raffle entry and plenty of tea and cake at the finish. Imagine an eve

That would definitely be better on a road bike, for sure.

That is cool, 5 minutes of fame is much better than world domination. That is unless you like everyone coming after you to knock you off the throne.

That's true. Some other mountain bike team would come after us for sure.

That picture has to be at least 15 years old. My how time flies, because it doesn't seem like it's been that long.
Thanks for the compliment!

I thought the goal was to achieve NEW ORDER not world domination!

. I have a mountain bike but I use it only to cycle on the towpath near the river. I would like to get a 200 km brevet of cycling as a personal challenge, but I will do it on a road bike
