If you were thinking that Middle America was all flat farmland, you were totally wrong. Some of the most beautiful scenic wonders in America are found in this area. Sure, there are lots of farmlands but there are many other things to see. The mighty Mississippi River has mile after mile of striking river views and vistas, especially where the Mississippi meets the Ohio River at the southern tip of Illinois. My Bucket List (things I’d like to do before I die) includes a ride up the Mississippi River in a big paddle boat. Then there’s the Blue Hole, an amazing artesian spring at Castalia, Ohio that produces SEVEN MILLION gallons of water every day. Hocking Hills, Ohio, is a state park that is also known as Little Yellowstone, (but without the smell of rotten eggs.) There you will see many scenic waterfalls and cool gorges, steep cliffs, rock ledges and chasms and strangely named caves. Mammoth Cave, Kentucky is where you can see arched domes, curtain- like formations and an unbelievable crystal-clear subterranean lake. Of course, the Great Lakes are in the Midwest too. And there are Sand Dunes near Michigan City, which are very fertile. Even orchids grow there. The biggest sand dune of all, at 190 feet tall is Mount Tom. There is so much to see.
