Is there anything to being first born... spoiled rotten or not?

I was the first born in my family, and I think that I had it pretty easy. I'm not sure if it was personality or not, but I pretty much got what I wanted when I wanted it. My three siblings weren't so lucky. Maybe they never asked for as much... don't know.
What do you think? Did the oldest in your family get more or less than the rest of the siblings?

I think it was the opposite for me. I am the oldest and I think I had it harder. Looking back, I felt like the guinea pig (since I was first born) and my parents were super strict on me. By the time my sister was born (7 years later), my parents were much more relaxed about things . . . I think they let my sister do more and get away with things - more than I ever did!

I wonder how things work out like that?? I guess it all comes down to the parents. Both of mine were in the middle of the family.

@Hate2Iron Ah, both of my parents were the second to the youngest. I have no idea how things work out like that. All I know is my sister got away with everything and that was totally not fair.

I am the oldest of only 2, so I don't feel either of us were spoiled. I have 4 children and my mother does anything for my son, who is my oldest.
I don't see any favoritism to the oldest of the 5 grandchildren who belong to my daughter, but the opposite that her youngest is spoiled. The oldest seems to be more ignored and spends a lot more time with us than his mother.

I wonder if personality has anything to do with it. I was the extrovert of all my siblings. They were all pretty quiet and reserved!!

For some lucky people, they find it easy being first born in the family but I guess my brother got it tough for those short time he was alone. We came in later when things were calm. His stories remains the bitter reality that he went through.

I guess it all depends on circumstances! I can't put my finger on anything else.

You got everything you wanted, and they you did all the housework and babysitting the kids next door and then it all changed and you became the baby in your parents eyes. ;)

I think that it must have been the middle sister in our house... I was never home to do any babysitting.
