Pigs CAN Fly

*yes, I see it turned out sideways when I posted it Okay, maybe they can't. Unless it's an animated pig. The lighting isn't the best, but the picture is of something I thought was pretty cute, and thus my grandmother bought it for me (from when I visited her a little over a week ago). It's a pig with wings, and I took a sideways picture of it so you could see the twisted wire that is the pig's squiggly tail. Grandmas like to spoil you if they can, even when you're all grown up. I hope she's with me still a long long time, but she just beat breast cancer (she had a mastectomy a week from the day of my mom's funeral almost a year ago), and with her hip and knee issues I don't know how she doesn't fall. I followed her around those four days trying to get her to sit down and let me wait on her! She's 78, but still can't seem to sit down for long. Which I understand, wanting to keep busy. I live three hours away, but my sister lives 30 minutes away. I don't know why she doesn't call or visit my grandmother more than she does. I'm thrilled she at least brings over Amyra, my niece, once a month. Amyra brings her great joy, of course. I mean, she's our grandmother, and she's loving, and a fountain of interesting information about our family and her life growing up so long ago. I just love listening to her stories.

I loved my grandma, too, and never took her forgranted. Listen to and remover her stories, because I'm sure they are full of family history and wonderful memories. I have a great book called, When Pigs Fly. Lol! Love your cute pig with wings.

@DianneN I gave my grandmother a "memory" book about seven or eight years ago. It asks questions about your family, growing up, first romance, first real struggle...She finished filling it out a couple of years ago. I'm very glad I have at least that.

@AmbiePam A pig with wings! That was really nice of your grandma. Some people however far they are will somehow make time to visit their near and near. But some persons, however near they are may not think that as necessary. It is nice of you to take time to be with her.

I read this title and knew right away this was a discussion for me! Its a cute, conversational pig, even if it doesn't fly. I was always so close with my Gramma. And I think that yours sounds as amazing as mine was. Love love love her, I don't have to tell you how fragile life is.

It seems to get more fragile every second of every day.

Sorry your grandmother is not well, but glad she still keeps busy. That's a good thing.

It's a blessing to have a living grandmother. I'm sure she's filled with all sorts of interesting stories. I'm sure seeing her generates a smile on your face. Older people can share so much wisdom with us.

What an "unusual" gift...cute, but unusual!! Yes, you are very lucky you still have a grandparent with you... cherish her with all your heart!!

Oh yes, listen to your grandmother's stories, so many people wish they had done that when it's too late. The pig is cute.

I always wonder how it feels to be pampered by a grandma. I never get the chance to meet mine.

It must be great having a doting grandmother and I'm sure she loves your visits. My grandmothers were both very old and didn't have much time for me.
