Did I take entirely the wrong direction in life?

Today as I sat looking at my computer screen whilst working from home, I decided to take a break and go and talk to Baloo, my big blue Burmese cat. It struck me that, had I been 20 years younger and not gone off to get a very conventional business training , I could probably have dedicated my life to building a global media presence for my lad, made him into an international online superstar. I asked him what he thought. He told me to scratch his butt and then rolled over. Something tells me even with all the online wisdom in the world, my lad's just too darned lazy for global mega-stardom. I guess I'd better get back to the spreadsheets.

He's actually quite sweet with baby ducks and geese and has brought live ones home from the park a few times without hurting them. But show him a squirrel and it will soon be an ex-squirrel.

I just get over the fact that he told you to scratch his butt. Some nerve. Stardom isn't for everyone.

But he LOVES to have his butt scratched. It's an honour to be invited.

He's uber-cute - but his manners are terrible.

Never work with children or animals - especially not lazy, self-assured blue Burmese cats.

@BellaDoc A kangaroo came to drink at a dish near the audience when one of our outdoor concerts was in full swing. The musicians were completely forgotten and ignored as a buzz went through the audience and all eyes swivelled in the direction of the kangaroo. Great to see you here again! You've been missed.

@JudyEv Great story and thanks! My life is somewhat chaotic these days, being taxi extraordinaire to the children and husband is travelling internationally for work more frequently. I'll try to keep up here when I can. I miss so many people!

Yes, having concentrated on a business online for that number of years in the past could have made a difference for anyone who is struggling nowadays in a niche that has been taken by some big companies.

Even if he's lazy you can still make him a star. All you need to do is let him get on with his life while you do the hard work - following him around with a camera.

Sometimes the path we take is the one we're supposed to take and not worry about whether it will lead to mega-stardom. Your cat is very wise.

That's what I liked about Baloo - a straight answer. - not interested - rather than dilly dallying

@boiboing My wife has one just like him and he won't even get out of the way when you walk right at him as he should. He just sits there and makes you walk round him. No-one does that for me. Where did I go wrong?

Hi Boing Boing. That cat thinks you have the scratching skills of a superstar. He says that you scratch him the right way. Isn' t that enough? The approval of an animal that knows he is a starkitty.
