Would You Clean a Dirt Road?

My driveway looks like a dirt road to anyone that drives on it. So it must look funny to the neighbors when I'm out there cleaning it with a leaf blower.
Large plumes of dust and dirt have gone out into the field and looks crazy, but there is a point. My road/driveway is not dirt. It is a stone drive that was never really taken care of, and eventually years of muddy water and neglect made it look like dirt.
Since I have started my efforts I am seeing more and more stone every time I clean the drive again, and little by little the stones are coming to the surface. I figure that eventually it will be restored and look wonderful again. Until then, I will work on it little by little. Digging up the stones at one end and blowing them off up and down the whole thing.
After all, I am the type to clean a dirt road!

@OneOfMany I agree, it's very unpleasant to walk in the mud when it rains.

@LadyDuck For a while I had to park in it and walk in the wet grass to stay out of it. Then I worked during the winter to dig up my old driveway that was in front of the house, so now I have a place to park where I don't have to move my car for people needing to come in. Plus I can go out with my shoes on rather than my boots. It's a nice change. Now the road/drive is changing as well, and there are a lot more rocks and stones I've never seen before. It's getting better all the time!

Yes, it's not like it's anything more than a farm road, but still, I'd rather have clean feet when walking on it than the mud puddles!

I wonder if edging it might help prevent run off from adding dirt to it

Edging it is in the plans. When I'm done it will be wider than it currently is.

I do hope the stones appear soon. Stone drives are so beautiful!

This is more of a gravel drive, but I still want to see it restored because then I can walk on it without getting my feet muddy when it rains! Plus, I don't want to have to mow the middle of it any more!

I think I will do it if I have some tools to clean it. But, I never seen a dirt road in my town, because we do not have autumn season....

Well I'm far from town, so there's plenty of dirt to go around!

It will. In fact I've been working on the area around the barn too, and now we can run the equipment over the stones there without worrying about mud when it rains. It's really great! Little by little I'm applying my landscaping skills to this place and making it look better. If I wasn't here it would only get attention on the weekends. And that really isn't enough!

I'm a seemingly impatient soul with some things and this would make me impatient. I'd have to spend all the time doing it until it was done. Thus, I'd give up and let it remain as a dirt road!

Most people would just put new stones down on top of it. But I don't want it that high!
