The traffic lights are finally working.

After about 50 crashes on these two blocks alone in about a 5 year period, they finally managed to install traffic lights at the corner. Now the folks who like to drag race from one end of the road to the other will have to think twice about it when the light is red. This is a blessing to our neighborhood. The road that crosses our 6 lane street is a two lane drive but also a bike route and the intersection bends at an S-curve snake like turn right at the crossroads. This has caused many accidents involving overturned trucks, knocked down light poles, bus stop signs, wrecked houses and other parked vehicles. Just a week ago there was a fatality involving a hit and run sending a second car over the median running head-on into t truck resulting in major damage and personal injuries. This light will do more to slow things down until they get used to it. But there will still be those red light runners and yellow light lead foots.

It´s good that you have the red lights replaced in your neighborhood. They can save many lives and prevent accidents; unfortunately, there will always be those who wil make them short lasting!

I think you are probably right but then it can't really hurt to have them either. If just one life is saved by these new traffic lights it will be well worth the effort.

Speed bumps here would not be good because of the fact that it is a major artery that connects the police and fire departments and the airport and two or more major freeways going north and south and to the dfw airport.
