Still No Approval

My first appointment for dentures was back in February. They said at the time they would need to get approval from Medicaid, which normally takes about a month, to proceed. When I went back last month after six weeks, they still hadn't had approval. They told me to call before I went to this appointment - I did three times - and the last time they told me to keep the appointment. I got there today and my dentures still don't have approval after two months. The only thing I can think of why there isn't approval is that I'm trying to get my six month review done, but I didn't get the info back in time because my dad passed when I needed to have the docs to them. I turned them in yesterday, late, but they're turned in. According to the last letter I saw from Social Services, I had 60 days without needing to start the process all over again. It was only a week late, and still in the same month. I hope that's the reason for why it hasn't been approved yet. Otherwise I have no idea why I haven't been approved for dentures. The good thing was the dentist still did what was necessary to get the process moving along so I will get my dentures on time. His assistant told me if they haven't called me within three weeks to call them. Only if they have the approval will I get my next appointment. The good news is that I only have two more appointments before I have my dentures. When I started this process, I was told I would have them in May. That's not going to happen if I haven't gotten the approval yet. Now it looks like June. I just hope I have them in time for my birthday in July. So that was my day - two hours to Milwaukee and two back, plus a bite to eat on the way home. It was a woman driver - Hmong and we chattered the whole way back. I read on the way down. She was terrific. We laughed allot on the way back. So now I'm home and I better get busy interacting. My bank has only moved .04 all day. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

These things take such a lot of needless time don't they! What a pity you have to travel so far for it.

Yes it is. It's a lot of wasted time, though the trip home was a blast with the woman who drove today. The time went so fast we were back before we realized it.

What a tough process. I hope everything goes through before June. Those things can take time.Patience is certainly needed. It can be difficult but I'm sure they will try to get things done as quickly as possible. Enjoy the rest of the week.

@just4him yep teeth are definitely important for that, I had a wisedom tooth infection once and I couldn't even eat mashed potatoes. It was horrible

@Drosophila That would be horrible. I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in the Navy back in the early 70's.

@just4him people say you can get ahead with hard work, and I disagree, you can be a hard worker all your life and barely make it by

@Jessicalynnt So true. It was the mindset of the people caught in the depression that put that idea forward. I've worked hard all my life and I'm barely scraping through life. I'm still looking to change that though.

If the people behind the desks had to be in our shoes for even a few minutes, I think there would be some changes, but since they have plush jobs, make more money than I'll make in three lifetimes, they don't care what they do to those of us who have needs just to live from day to day.

They say socialist medicine would make it take longer to get in to see a doctor. Can you imagine waiting longer than we already do?

No. It's already been since November that I had my teeth pulled, and two months since my first dentures appointment.

Me too. When I started the process they assured me I would have my dentures in time for my birthday. I'm still hoping, but the time is getting close and I still have two appointments before I have my dentures. My birthday is in July.

Sounds like a busy but yet frustrating day. I hope your dentures get approved soon, hate how insurances take forever to approve something. Hope the rest of your day was better.

So when did you get the approval for your dentures? Did you have a good birthday?

I'm sure I did. Yes, I did. I went to an amusement park and walked around, then went to another park for a while and read before heading home.

I got my first dentures back when I was 23 years old. I can only assume they were paid for with a state medical card. My oldest daughter is working with her church now on getting a grant to get her teeth pulled and getting dentures. They say it will take up to 30 days for the grant to be approved. I hope it is as she sorely suffers with rotten teeth like I did.

They told me it would only be a month for the approval, and it's already two. I'm hoping it comes through soon. I hope your daughter has much more success than I've had.

Dental care is cheaper even if not subsidized here except those that require specialized attention like implants. So it can be a fast job - siva
