Great Birthday Celebrations

The apartment house at 267 Ovington Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York where my mom had an apartment was practically 90% full of Latvians. The older generation of Latvians had discovered that it was a beautiful and quiet neighborhood and that it was great to live among friends. This provided for quite a party atmosphere. Every time someone’s birthday came round all the neighbors were invited. These people might have been seniors but they knew how to enjoy themselves when everyone came together. It was good times, plenty of good food and on the occasion music and even dancing. I fondly remember these times because they were fun and these were all interesting and fascinating people. Sadly all of them have since passed on. My own photo of one of the celebrations
