Have You Tried Alternative Hair Conditioner?

From the net, I learned that apple cider vinegar can be an alternative to some hair conditioners due to it's natural "healing" effect on the hair.
I tried it for several days and saw the good results; my hair was softer, easy to manage and not frizzy; however, the downturn was that it seemed to hasten the fading of my dyed hair.
Do you know of such alternatives for hair care? Have you tried apple cider vinegar for your hair too?

yes, i remember a college classmate who used mayonnaise on her hair
i think vinegar (because it's acidic) and hair dye shouldn't mix. i mean it's like soaking colored clothes in vinegar.
i have heard of olive oil, coconut oil and sunflower oil being used on hair, too.
can you explain how and when you use apple cider vinegar on your hair?

As I had seen on the net, you can use a little amount of it then dilute it in water then pour and massage into hair and let it stay for a minute then rinse well.I know some are using mayonnaise, oils, etc to condition hairs too.

@acelawrites so you have to shampoo and rinse it first? then put vinegar on your hair, then after 1 minute rinse the vinegar with water?

@hereandthere yes, you use a shampoo first then rinse, then put on the ACV as conditioner. I read that in place of the usual shampoo, baking soda diluted in water can be used as shampoo too because of its antibacterial property and retains the natural pH of the hair.

I've been using cider vinegar for years. White vinegar works just as well and isn't quite as strong smelling. The cider vinegar is also good to clean your sinuses out.
I also use Coconut Oil for a conditioner. Melt a couple of tablespoons of it and you have a hot oil treatment.

I knew coconut oil can be used for hot oil treatment. Women in the past put it in their hair to look shiny and dark.

I did not know that vinegar can be used as hair conditioner, until I read it from the net. In the olden days, I knew old women in our place use calamansi (our local lemon) as hair conditioner making it smooth and shiny.

What color do you dye your hair? The cider vinegar is awesome for removing soap residue, but you are correct it may bleach your hair some. You can also use coffee or tea in your hair to preserve the color.

Yes,it made the hair supple and shiny but it erodes hair color fast.
