it's pay day

But it doesn't deserve to be in little letters. IT'S PAY DAY!!! There, isn't that better? Pay Day means different things to different people. For some, it's the once in a month opportunity to pay off their overdraft and make their banks happy, before delving immediately into it again. For others, it goes towards a treat; that new dress they've been coveting, or the dapper dandy shoes in the shop window. Others take some and put it into savings so that they can pay for Christmas this year, or a fancy {or even not so fancy} holiday or few days away. Then there are those who find it all going on bills; electric, gas, mortgage or rent, loan repayments, mobile contracts, tellybox watching, council tax, water rates, etc. For the last two years Pay Day has meant phew, I have some money in the bank! as Husband has been out of work and unable to find employment. It helped that we had savings, but as these depleted we were facing a rubbish 2016; my wage on its own does not cover all our essential outgoings. And then, a miracle! Husband sold one of his domain name thingy's for a whopping amount of money {10k} and, shortly after, an even bigger miracle! He got himself a job, and began working again on the first of this month. So today, for the first time in two years, we have a Pay Day each. We aren't earning what we were earning two years ago, but we finally have enough to pay for all the essential bills, and to start paying a nominal amount to MiL - who let us borrow a bit of money - and more than enough disposable income left over to start saving again and give ourselves an occasional treat. We won't be losing our house this year. And we actually have savings again, savings which won't just be going on paying the mortgage. I don't want to tempt Fate, encourage her to notice that things at the moment are fandangly and decide they shouldn't be, but ... well, life is good right now. Plus, IT'S PAY DAY!!!

@poppylicious You fill my heart with joy! Part of my work is helping people back get into work and helping others to manage their finances. So glad your husband found work. We need to be able to afford treats.

In my head I'm spending a fortune. It's nice just to be able to plan to buy things. :)

It's not tempting fate, on the grounds there is no such thing!!! Nothing wrong with being happy when things are good. Enjoy it. You deserve it!

Thank you. I'm a big believer in Fate, but am happy to think that Fate is often lovely and doesn't need tempting!

I am so happy for the wonderful news. I can imagine how you feel now. My payday was the last day of the month, when it was on Saturday or Sunday the day before, today would have been a payday!

I get paid on the 21st. So for three weeks a month the company owes me and for 9 or 10 days I owe them.

When I worked briefly in retail I was paid weekly, but mostly it's been monthly. I think I prefer monthly.
