I have been in few relationships and I always prefer a man older than me because I like being spoiled by a relationship. I wanted to be the one who will always be understood and the one who will always received the favors. I thought it will always be like that until I met my boyfriend now. He is also older than me but one thing is different from him. He taught me how to understand the realities of life. Because of him I have realized how childish and self centered I was before. Although there were times he spoiled me during my birthday and when I graduated, there are still many times that he will make me realized that I must not always depend on him for everything. My happiness does not depend on him but on my own. He knows my dream to travel and he also knows how hesitant I am to do it too. So it was like I want something but I do not want to take any steps to be able to achieve it because I prefer to listen to others than listening what my heart wish. He argued with me and we broke up and that was the time that I get the courage to travel. He did not believe at me first. He thought I was just fabricating stories until I showed him evidences that I made up my mind already. What's surprising was that when he found out I was ready to travel on my own, he flew from his country to the Philippines on the date of my flight and asked my mom to allow him be with me in my trip. He told me he was scared to let me alone in a foreign country for the first time. He just wants me to be protected from bad people who might take an advantage of me being a foreigner in their country. My mom who also worries a lot on my decision to travel felt relieve that my boyfriend will be with me abroad and I will not be alone anymore in case I got some problems. At the end, he was able to remove the fears in me in reaching for my dreams. His teaching style was somehow terrible as we need to break up first before I can be brave enough to face my fears. What lessons have you got from other people or situations? What/Who do you think was able to bring out the best in you?

I'm currently in a relationship with someone 5 years younger than me but even so, I don't see him as someone whom I can be with forever with the way things are going now. Anyway, I suppose right now as a mom, my son brought out things in me that I never knew I could do.

I also consider those kinds of people as my angels in disguise. My mom also brings out the best in me. Without her, I will not be where I am now in my life. She is the best mom for me too.

@sarameastrong I admire you for having such a strong personality. I know it might be difficult for you to be away from them but out of love for them, you have been trying to fight the feeling of longing for your family members. Indeed, our loved ones play a big part for us to be the best of what we can be.

@annierose ahm,it's my dream to be here in Canada for work ,i came from Philippines. I had a long distance relationship with my family and my boyfriend.well,i am contented with my status even though sometimes i miss them but i need to be here to work and have a better job nor not for myself but for the sake of my family because i have three brothers and five sisters as well as my parents they all need my financial support.Sacrifice of being far away from love ones were such eventually brilliant choice i made in my whole life.

You are very blessed @BelleStarr Not all couple last that long. Yours is a good example for those couple who are going to settle down in their lives. I consider my partner also my best friend. And sometimes my enemy too It is because sometimes he does things that I do not think is good like working so much so I argue with him. Then later on he will explain he just want to save more money to be able to visit me. At present, I am trying to be more patient and open minded with his attitude.

Thanks @LadyDuck He could not let me go there alone as he thinks I still think and act like a child. I am an impulsive creature and that's what make him worried sometimes. I am so thankful because he made me reach my long time dream. How about you?

I have always been keen to learn from others so I gained a lot from my grandparents and various friends, from appreciation of good ales, to my creative energy and humour style as well as my skeptical outlook on life

You have been an enthusiast learner all your life . I admire you for possessing such. I was a naughty and stubborn creature before and I always spent my day in my room reading books. The way I view life now depends on those reading materials that keep me company most of the times. The people who surround us are the ones who greatly influence us a lot. We reach the status that we have now because of them.

@arthurchappell I agree. Not all things can be learned within the four walls of a classroom. Our own experiences teach us more than what our teachers did in the past.

Erm.. the people who turned their backs on me in my hour of need.. the annoying thing is once I become "valuable" again, all of a sudden, I've discovered "friends" I aint had before.
