Drove an Hour to Get My Son's Smile Back On

A few months back, my son fell at work and smashed his mouth into a door handle at McDonald's while he was working. The insurance paid to have the teeth removed and also said they would cover a plate to replace the missing teeth.
Sadly, not one dentist in our town would work with his insurance company to cover the teeth. He was able to get the teeth removed though.
Aspen Dental, which is an hour drive to the east of us, agreed to accept the insurance and made the plate for him. Two weeks ago he had to go for the first fitting. Today, we had to drive to pick it up.
We were late upon arrival, but they didn't hold that against him and took him in for the fitting. I am happy to say he has his smile back. Wish I had a picture to show how great a smile he has now.

I know many that don't have teeth. Some insurances do not cover them at all. There is a place I see on television all the time that boasts to have affordable dentures. Not sure what the cost it is though. Many would not be able to get there because it is out of state.

@CRK109 Insurance companies are the pits. If you don't have dental insurance that covers tooth replacement you are up a creek without a paddle.

@ElusiveButterfly My husband had lost one of his front teeth at one point and he didn't have the insurance to get a new tooth. It always bothered him. He had the best smile but he didn't want to smile once the tooth was gone. That angered me so much. People like him should have been able to get something done. Just because.

That is certainly worth the hour drive! Glad he got his smile back that would be a really frustrating situation.

He had a beautiful smile before. Pained me to see him smile with the teeth missing. Now he has that beautiful smile back again.

It is a pity that the insurance could not pat for an implant.

I believe that they would have, but my son chose the partial plate instead.

I am impressed McD would actually cover that, instead of blaming him for tripping in the first place or somehow making it his fault.

Jessa, I was also concerned that they wouldn't pay. The insurance covered it. I guess his boss didn't dispute that it was in fact an accident.

@ElusiveButterfly big biz aren't always...the most ethical, when they know they can be bullies and have the lawyers and the weight behind them to be bullies

He is much happier now with his smile. Even though he was missing the teeth it didn't stop him from smiling. But, I know he is more confident with the new teeth.

He always had a beautiful smile. Glad that he has it back again. Even without the teeth his smile was great.
