Just read a post from @sulynsi about teen deaths in car accidents. It just happened here this past week. Six passengers in a truck. Two died when truck hit a tree. The vehicle was full of empty beer cans. Check out this link: The statistics are mind-boggling.

That`s terrible, a waste of lives full of future hopes. When will teens learn to be responsible?

It's so SAD. They have their whole lives ahead of them and then they do something stupid, like driving drunk or speeding, taking chances. For WHAT? Thrills that can cost them their life.

@davidalicea100 Yes, with all the vehicles on the road, car accidents are numerous. My father had a cousin who was killed in a car accident, one week after she got married. Amazingly, the accident happened in the early 1900s, when cars could only go maybe 15 miles an hour, but there were NO safety features at all.

Now that warm weather is here, more and more car accidents are happening everywhere. I have a high school just down the road and across the road from my house and there are always accidents there, just about every week.

36%!! That's shocking! I guess this explains why insurance rates are so high for young men! My son is now in his late 20s, never had issues with drinking, but boy, young guys, even with constant reminders - they really have trouble getting their heads around the idea that they are not invincible, nor do they believe their reflexes really aren't as fast as they think they are!

The statistics are very scary. My grandson is 15 and will soon be able to take Driver's Ed at his high school. One more thing to be concerned about. He's not into drinking at all. Neither is his father, my youngest son.

@davidalicea100 Oh my! I hope she was arrested. I don't think the punishment for drunk driving is severe enough.

We have lots of teenage deaths too. The cars nowadays are so fast and powerful. Once teenagers mostly could only afford old bombs that couldn't go very fast.

You are right. Why make cars that can go 100+ miles per hour when the speed limit is nowhere near that? If the car manufacturers would cut down the speed that cars could go, MAYBE it would lessen the number of deaths. On the other hand, all car manufacturers would have to decide to do that at the same time. And all the old cars would still be on the road. So, it will never happen. I just wonder WHO decided that cars need such powerful engines in the first place.

I also had a son who is now a teenager. The age at which a child who is still looking for identity. As a parent I sometimes worry about the association of children in today. If they chose the wrong social consequences will be fatal. The large number of accidents which the majority are young people, I think the lack of supervision and control of the parents.
