I love painting animal portraits

As a gift for my niece and nephew, I decided to surprise them with paintings of their pets. So I dug up some of the recent photographs from my folder and chose the best ones from them. My niece is fond of their pet dog, while my nephew prefers their cat. I love animals as much as I love painting. And painting animal portraits is my passion. It was very rewarding to see the looks on their faces when they opened up their gifts and recognized their favorites. I have put up one of the paintings, your honest opinions and comments are most welcome.

@roxvaz You could do some portraits for friends and acquaintances. Then the mouth-to-mouth method will bring you further customers. If you know a shop-keeper of a, say, clothes shop, you can ask them if you can display one or two pictures in the shop-window together with a sign offering your services. Details can be asked in the shop. If you decide to do it, don't make the price too low. People don't appreciate things which don't cost much. It doesn't have to become a trend in the whole of India. A bit of pocket money would also be good, wouldn't it?

@MALUSE true that. I actually have been toying with the idea of putting up pics of the same at a pet store. I just never took the step to do so. Even though i love painting on cloth, they can still be framed if required. Glad I put this up. Honest comments and suggestions can boost up one's morale and lead to positive results :)

Thanks so much for your encouragement. to be honest, i did give it a brief thought. But i am not very sure if the trend will catch on here in India

@roxvaz very nice... my son does portrait too, he likes using colored pencils and his works are so detailed and realistic people often mistaken them as photos...

Very nice work! People might pay a lot for a painting of their favorite pet.

Thanks so much - i have put up flyers locally ...but somehow not much response. I guess my marketing skills need some brushing up. Am sure I will get my lucky break someday soon. Thanks for the encouragement

Your painting is really great! Before reading your title, when I looked at the picture, I thought it's a photo of a dog and I think it's a really beautiful dog. I am sure your niece and nephew love the painting very much. I wonder if the dog can recognize himself in the painting.

thank you very much. It truly is flattering that many seem to assuming it is a photo. Because i have painted it, i guess that seems to skip my eye :)

hey thanks for the compliment, but there are surely other things that you may be good at. :) .. I for one am not too keen on needlework like crochet or knitting or cross stitch.... it amazes me to see the wonders people can create with this type of art

Love the detail. Yet it's soft. Like a good tube stereo system. And the dog's personality seems to shine through.
