Our heritage, our culture and our love of our country.
This month is the country's National Heritage Month.
And today, Vigan city is on the celebration of one cultural heritage, the "tres de Mayo"(the third of May), or now called the "binatbatan festival"
The festival got its name from the Iluko term batbatin, or separating cotton balls from the seeds of the local fruit tree kapas sanglay.
Those balls.are.being used to weave abel--the local woven cloth.
The.festival also.highlights the city's festival of arts.
Isn't nice to know, see and experience what our heritage is?

i recall my late mother when we would remove the seeds of this "capas sanglay" in order to put them inside the pillow cases. we used the seats of our wooden sofa and there fell the seeds. the pillows are soft with these cotton.

@Lucky15 it is because the cotton used in pillows are now synthetic and not the organic or natural cotton fibers.

I like to go to Vigan but still don't have time yet. It's good to celebrate those festivals. Hope you enjoy it!

I don't Australia has a National Heritage Day but it would be a good idea. Some people don't have much idea about Australia's history and heritage.
