A Baby Shower Prayer That Drew Giggles!

Having studied in a catholic seminary for years (Thank goodness, I did not become a priest!), I was asked by a young couple to lead a baby shower prayer for their soon-to-come-out-to-this-crazy-world baby. I asked them if it was okay to inject a little humor in it; they replied that it would be fun. Here's the baby shower I composed that drew giggles at the end. "Heavenly Father, we are gathered in this beautiful home tonight to start showering with love and gifts the soon-to-come-out bundle of joy of Hillary and Donald (not their real names). We implore you, Heavenly Father, to shower Hillary and Donald and their baby with your blessings for their good health and inimitable happiness. And when delivery time comes, Heavenly Father, we pray that you give power to Hillary to be strong and not to endure a very long labor that would surely make Donald to panic or even go nuts. And I am sorry, Father, to make this prayer short as all eyes are focused right now on the foods. Amen!" Have you ever been asked to lead a prayer? . . Above photo shows the beautiful baby a few month after birth.

That was a nice prayer actually , my friend . There's a bit of naughtiness and humor . Of course , everyone is already eyeing the foods . That baby is so cute and innocent . Your grandchild ?

I think that was cute and since a baby shower is supposed to be an event of cheer a few giggles are great. Normally, I don't point out what appears to be typos in others posts but this one time I am going to make an exception because the words that I think you left out really change the meaning of what you seem to be saying. In your post you said "be strong and not to endure a very long labor." Did you not mean to type "not to have to endure a very long labor"? I know from personal experience that my brain can go faster than my fingers and I am often going back and inserting phrases that I sounded in my head but didn't quite get them on the post. I hope I haven't offended you. If so please just tell me so. I know I always tell people to listen to what I mean not what I say. For the most part I probably should have taken my own advice here.

I love your grand finale "all eyes are focused on the foods", this is what happens every time.
