Dharmender was a successful actor of bollywood films who ruled bollywood for more than 25 years and acted in more than 300 films between 1960 to 2010. One of the reasons of his success included the hit music of his films.
Rafisahab had sung more than 175 songs for Dharmender in more than 40 films. Laxmikant Pyarellal composed music in more than 30 films of Dharmender. Some of the super hit films where LP, Rafi and Dharmender worked together included Loafer, Jivan Mrityu, Izzat, Aye Din Bahar Ke, Mere Humdum Mere Dost, Baharon Ki Manzil, etc.
Some of the super hit songs of Rafisahab for Dharmender included "jat yamla pagla deewana", "aaj mausam bara beimaan hai", "na ja kahin ab na ja", "jhilmil sitaron ka angan hoga", "o meri mehbooba".
Dharmender had fantastic action image and was India's first macho hero. While his action scenes created attention his romantic films also did great business. Rafisahab came as a blessing for Dharmender.

Dharmendra in his hey days was a looker an he did act in some very impressive films like Sholay, Anupama, Satyakam and a few others...I would think that Lakshmikant Pyarelal's music helped him a lot , in that it gave him a softer romantic image through those songs ..

Yes Kiranji, in the 1960s, all the composers were attached with actors, Naushad Ali with Dilip Kumar, Roshanlal Nagrath with Pradip Kumar, OP Nayyar with Joy Mukherjee, Shankar Jaikishan with Raj Kapoor, Rajender Kumar, so LP had started his journey with Dharmender. Rafisahab was common for most of the actors.

@sathviksouvik I agree, in a way Rafi and his voice has contributed in the success of many actors of the mid fifties and sixties..Shammi Kapoor is another actor who is identified with Rafis songs that were specially composed for him, similarly Shashi Kapoor !

@kiran8 Thanks Kiranji for the wonderful comments. Bharat Bhushan became a great star due to brilliant singing of Rafisahab. Rafi sang "o duniya ke rakhwale", "man tarapata" in Baiju Bawra, "zindagi bhar nahi bhulenge barsaat ki raat" in Barsaat Ki Raat, brilliant songs of Phagun, Gateway of India, etc. Same was the case with Pradip Kumar and Guru Dutt.
