Hatched

You may remember a post I did where I shared a picture of a bird's nest filled with eggs. We've all seen them, but I had never seen a bird make a nest in a fake wreath a foot from my dad's front door. Well, a couple of them have hatched! As you look in the middle of the wreath you'll see a few unhatched eggs, and two orange/yellow mouths open, waiting to be fed. I walked up to my dad's porch, leaned over to see how it was coming along, and saw the cute little babies. It seems the dad is involved too because we keep seeing two different birds fly to the nest, and then leave when they see someone coming. It's that or Lucy is bringing Ethel over to show off her hatchlings.

That is good that both parents help to take care of the babies.

The robins nest we have here is being cared for by two robins as well. I am curious what kind of birds these are as the eggs are so tiny.

Oh how cute they are!! I hope they stay safe! It looks like the nest could tip out with one wrong move from the babies.

It's actually really stable. When I posted this picture it was turned. So what you're seeing is actually skewed. That mama bird is impressive.

Wow! I never seen a bird hatching in its nest. You're lucky to have them in your dad's porch.

It's been a long time since I've seen baby birds in a nest. We once had a hummingbird nest outside our living room window when we still had young children at home. Every day we would watch the birds while the children waited to go to school. First we saw the nest being built. Next Came the eggs, and then the baby birds. Haven't seen a nest with eggs since. Thanks for sharing yours.

That is really something that there are two little ones in there and you can see them up close like that. Hopefully they remain safe and sound here until they are ready to leave their little nest. And your Dad thought that he was an empty-nester!

So cute little babies. Yes, even the male birds help to feed the babies.
