This is about the season when the colorful insects feed from the petals of flowers and lay their eggs on milkweed.
In my region is rare to see monarch butterflies at the time of the year, since, they are usually north of the continent, feeding and reproducing before they take a yearly trip, either to California or Mexico.
I wonder if you have seen some butterflies in your region.
Did you know that monarch butteflies are sensitive to cold weather and they usually move where is warmer and sunny?

I read that the monarch butterflies will be in Canada by the end of May and stay till September before they start looking for warmer regions south of the continent.

I live in a tropical country and the butterflies don't have to move anywhere else.

That´s true. They wouldn´t be able to cross the ocean with nowhere to get their food.

They will soon be there. It´s about time for them to fly north of the continent.

You don't have to be scared of them, unless you want to eat them. Monarch butterflies are venomous for their predators when ingested.
Monarch butterflies feed from milkweed, from which they extract cardiac glycosides from milkweed and use it for protection against predators.
