I could use some help with this site

I just came back to try this site out again after a very long hiatus. Most sites seem to change as time goes one, so I'm curious as to what the most effective ways to earn are. Is it posting your own discussions? I mean, I know that it's a multitude of posting and commenting but there used to be these little tricks like adding in emoji's and stuff like that.
Any pointers is greatly appreciated. I commented on several discussions yesterday and the amount earned was so little that I am thinking there must be more.

If you were here in the original myLot and have not been back since, you will find the earnings algorithm greatly changed. You now earn for how people interact with your activity like posts and responses. Your best bet is not to put too many discussions up too close together and to make connections by visiting others. They will in turn visit you and then you will earn. Look for the connections you had before as I am sure they will be glad to see you. You are earning right now because I am interacting with your post.

Thank you, Heather. Some sites have all these little hidden "tricks" to earning. I will continue to do a little here & there with the site. My time is limited but I do like the social discussion aspect of this site.
