I made a person mad at myLot today.

So I wrote an article about my tomatoes and how they were being protected against birds and such.
The idea of taking a pic of it to show was a bad idea.
Because by the time I shrank the size of the pic to a size it would be able to be uploaded, it was impossible to see the bird netting.
A reader left a comment about giving credit to the commenter as to utilizing a framework to keep the netting above the plants and such was not given by me as I had thought of this idea earlier but failed to mention that it was also mentioned by the commenter from an earlier article where I indicated a lizard got caught up in the netting on the ground where I was growing seedlings of jalapeno peppers.
For some dumb reason my comment was taken as an insult to the commenter of that article so I tried my best to make restitution but all I managed to do was make matters worse.
I had a bad feeling about this interaction and only had one choice or the other, which was either ignore the commenter or to apologize so I did the later. The commenter now thinks I am being insulting and saying bad things like calling that person uptight. Well, I am here to set the record straight. I have been dealing with some bad comments and try my best to be diplomatic but I am smart enough to know when the comments are made just to be plain condescending. I can tell the difference between being given good advice and being patronized.
So I think I am doing pretty good and if anyone thinks they have had their feelings hurt by me in any response when I was actually just being honest and straight forward I am sorry that the misunderstandings have happened but it's just that when you are dealing with strangers who you really have no clue as to what makes them tick, sometimes the simplest words can spark a flame that is hard to put out and not in a good way. So I am keeping on with my postings until I am told to do otherwise and I will refrain from commenting back to anyone who tries to be insulting to me first. I will just not reply to them. This is my solution if I am to remain at this site and that goes for anyone out on this site who has had similar experiences.

I think you did the right thing, Anthony. In my case, sometimes, I just keep quiet and do not engage in further discussion to aggravate the matter.

Thank you so much for understanding. My basic intentions are not hostile in the first place but I tend to get upset when a negative comment or a sarcasm is masked as a compliment or an attempt at correcting something in my post.

@lookatdesktop It's a common reaction when we get peeved but, being mature, we always settle down when we realize it's useless to engage with people who do not have the same wave length with us :)

I am on a constant learning curve. Sometimes the curve is not entirely circular. It has sometimes been more an eliptical one.

Not being able to hear responders or see their faces, it is easy to find them rude and they may really be but we do not know that. I will ignore comments if they seem uncivil. It is all you can do, unless it escalates to the place of needing intervention from admin.

I just don't like being charged with being insulting when I had no intentions of this. But then, it goes both ways. Nobody's perfect.
