The day was centred heavily on hospital visiting to see my Mum who is in a very distressing state. Having severely dehydrated yesterday on top of her severe heart condition, she is hooked up to multiple drip feeds and monitors. The intensive care unit allows all day visiting but with just two visitors to the bedside at any time. I went with my sister and her husband, and we arrived to find a friend of my mum’s there too, who just hogged the bedside for an hour which I found annoying. My mum has lost a great deal of weight, though very thin anyway. The nurses needed lots of blood samples and struggled to find good veins – my mum’s arms are severely bruised up from the injections and blood feeds and she was often delirious, answering questions no one had asked. At one point she asked when she is going back to her ward, though she hasn’t been taken off the ward since being rushed to hospital. Arthur Chappell
