Nightmare House

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

We moved into an old, but much larger house. It was once white, but needed painting badly. The wood floors took lots of scrubbing and sweeping to get clean. We finally got all of our possessions moved in and had a chance to sit down and relax for a moment, and enjoy the quiet of our new home. A knock came at the door. Just three loud rapping noises. I went to the door, and there was an elderly African-American lady standing there. Her eyes were white with cataracts, and I wondered how she could manage to find the door at all. As I opened the door, she pushed by me and led herself to the sofa. She pointed her eyes in my direction, and said, "I am here to talk to you about the others before you." Now I normally would have thought those words meant that she wanted to chat about the previous owners, and the things she didn't like about them as neighbors, followed by the rules of the neighborhood. Something in her chilling tone though, left me to believe otherwise. "You see," she began, and was quickly interrupted by another loud knock on the door, followed by a blood curdling scream. I went to the door once again, and found a young woman lying on the porch holding her belly. She was obviously in labor and just about to give birth. I helped her inside, and laid some plastic garbage bags on the floor, and eased her down onto them. I was asking her questions, but it was obvious she did not speak my language. I did get that her name was Mary. The baby was born, and I handed him to his mother, and wrapped them in blankets. Just then, the old woman stood up and started shouting something about the glory of God, righteousness, sinners and Hell. The house started to go up in flames, and rafters and beams were beginning to fall around us all. I could see a way out, and someone on the other side of the doorway was yelling "Cindi! Cindi! Get out! Get up!" "Cindi! It's time to get up!" I realized my eyes were closed. I quickly opened them, and was staring up at my bedroom ceiling, in my own bed. I don't think I will move anytime soon.

I figured this had to be a dream as soon as you mention the "blood curdling scream" and the fact you didn't call 911. Some dreams can be really weird.

@cindiowens I would think if you had time to get out plastic bags and put them down you would have had time to call 911 even if they would not have gotten there in time. If it would have been me, I would have had the phone in my hand ready to call 911 before I opened the door. I'm not even sure I would have opened the door after hearing a scream for fear of what I would find. But then in dreams you do things you normally would not do in real life.

@RichardMeister Yeah, you know how dreams are. I had to open the door...a pregnant lady wasn't as bad as what I expected, lol.

If that dream is any reflection of what a new house would be like, I'm not going anywhere, lol.

in the bigining i thought it'a about a movie, then i understand it couldn't be real...and finally there it was a scarry dream. That is not good. I bought a house to country and i hope nothing happen there. I sleep there many times but all the time i ask myself what if there is a spirit there....but i don't feel something like that so it's good. The only spirit that is there is a little mouse who doesn't let me sleep.

Maybe you need to get another spirit to move in like a cat.

Why don't I ever have interesting dreams like that? I'd love to be able to write interesting stories like this one but I rarely remember my dreams and when I do they aren't even worth writing down.

I always remember at least one dream. The longer I am awake though, the fuzzier it gets.
