Hubby in Emergency Room

Yesterday late afternoon Hubby was having mild chest symptoms. He had stopped by the other house after swimming to change, and eat, and he called to tell me he was going to drive himself to the ER, five minutes away because he had mild chest pain. He said he was just going to have them check his blood pressure. I knew there was a fat chance that's all they would check. He said he'd call when he got there and I went down to join him. The only room left was an isolation room. Our ER has two of them. They are very nice they are private rooms with solid doors that shut all the way, so they are quieter and more private than other rooms. They are normally used with people who might have contagious diseases. The air is recirculated constantly. When I arrived, Hubby looked as he did in this photo. I stayed with him for several hours. They did lots of tests and decided they should keep him overnight for observation, since they still had no idea what was wrong. All the tests they had done were negative for heart attack, but there's one blood test that isn't conclusive for about eight hours. They didn't want him to leave until they had checked it in the morning. I knew when Hubby checked himself in this is what would happen. How did I know? Because the same thing happened to me about three years ago. That is why I did not go to the ER on April 10 when I had heart palpitations. I did finally see our mutual cardiologist today while Hubby was waiting to be released from the hospital. First he told me he'd seen all Hubby's ER tests and there was no indication his pain was caused by a heart attack. He told me that my symptoms on April 10 probably weren't either and I made the right decision not to go to the ER that day. He has scheduled both of us for another treadmill stress test. He says the episode April 10 by itself didn't worry him. What does is that ever since then symptoms recur after any exertion and I get out of breath just moving the hose on watering days. Anyway, if you wondered why I haven't been around, it's because of all this. I will probably even go to bed early tonight, since I couldn't sleep well last night. Things just don't feel right when Hubby isn't in the house.

Hope all your health issues get sorted soon. It is worrying not knowing quite what is wrong.

The stress tests should give the doctor a better picture of what's going on.

I hope so, too, but we've both already lived our lifespan of three score and ten. Now we live on borrowed time.

He's doing well. He slept a lot yesterday and was pretty tired today, but staying overnight in a hospital in a noisy shared room can do that to you. He's catching up.

I hope your husband pain ceases and he feels better. Having chest pains is alarming and they usually keep patients that complain of chest pains.

I was pretty sure if he went in they would keep him. He seems fine today, just still tired from the whole experience.
