Do we get what we deserve?

We seem to be shortchanged especially by our political leaders. Then we are played out by others who corner more than they need. The rewards look to be lopsided when few are forced to work all their lives. The majority is more altruistic than naive and put up with injustices than protest vehemently. It all adds up to few setting the agenda and pass on the outcome to the rest while enjoying the cream. That has been happening right through human history; a form of slavery, or remnants of it, to accept life as fated! Most are resigned to their “fate” than fight to right the wrongs. Of course, there are some who will say the reward is more through dint of their hard work and they deserve every cent. I have no issues with that but there are those in poor countries where life is a daily struggle for most while few loot their countries’ wealth. Mothers have to leave their infant children back at home while they try to better their family welfare slogging away in faraway lands and in alien cultures without basic protection. Then again, what is the alternative? Systems are in place but I feel no one leader can change the landscape. The awareness for justice should spur united action above petty squabbles that override more important issues at the moment. I feel our journey for a just society will be an ongoing process, but may we be guided by what is the right way to leave footprints that justify our time here. What are your thoughts about how we are placed as a society?

I think corruption and greediness are so deeply ingrained in us that no matter what you (general)do or dont, it will always stay as it is. again, justice is always relative,a criminal jailed for long period,a killer jailed for life, all these people will cry injustice

Corruption is minimal in advanced societies unlike in poorer countries where cunning leaders still manipulate the system. Greed is like a cancer within society that shows no bounds. Justice is almost absent in many countries or it is politically manipulated to "fix" opponents. So democracy is a sham in those countries - siva

@Shiva49 it is the evil that is making things bad and unfortunately at this time there is more evil than good in this world.

Without divine intervention there will never be justice for all, equality, peace, abundance. Notice this prophecy: (Psalm 72 NWT) O God, give your judgments to the king...   2 May he plead the cause of your people with righteousness, And of your lowly ones with justice. 3 May the mountains bring peace to the people, And may the hills bring righteousness.  4 Let him defend the lowly among the people, Let him save the sons of the poor, And let him crush the defrauder. ...   6 He will be like the rain that falls on the mown grass, Like showers of rain that water the earth. 7 In his days the righteous will flourish, And peace will abound until the moon is no more.  8 He will have subjects from sea to sea And from the River to the ends of the earth.  9 The desert dwellers will bow down before him, And his enemies will lick the dust. ... 11 All the kings will bow down before him, And all the nations will serve him. 12For he will rescue the poor who cry for help, Also the lowly one and whoever has no helper. 13 He will have pity on the lowly and the poor, And the lives of the poor he will save. 14 From oppression and from violence he will rescue them, And their blood will be precious in his eyes. ... 16 There will be an abundance of grain on the earth; On the top of the mountains it will overflow. His fruit will flourish as in Leb'a·non, And in the cities people will blossom like the vegetation of the earth. ... 19 ... And may his glory fill the whole earth. Amen and Amen.

@Shiva49 I am not giving up hope as the prophecies are all coming true and The Divine One knows the best time to intervene. He is concerned with every one on earth and I am mainly concerned about me and a few people.

Though we all desire there will be divine intervention, even retribution, many generations have come and gone hoping against hope all their lives. And I do hope they have received final justice. I see around me even the devout looking away from inconvenient truths to the extent of being hypocrites - siva

@1hopefulman All is well that ends well. I know you have your reasons. For me I just do my best and then leave it at that. If there is nothing further, so be it. A clear conscience is the best reward for me - siva

It is like we are sheep being led to the slaughter and have no real say in the matter of how things are being done. Just look at our politicans who can go to a doctor for $50 whereas when we go to the doctor it is usually well over $150 or look at our Social Security where this year we receive no raise but think of the politicans who will vote themselves a raise. This does not seem fair to me does it to you?

At least in the US people are able to question and get answers. In few supposed democracies people do not even bother to ask as they know all leaders are same feathering their own nests. Hope America, the bastion of free world, is able to show others the way forward. Let the rich become richer but not at the cost of the poor - siva

It is nearly insurmountable what we as the human race face to overcome the challenges and near subservience to the system and politicians today. It must be done collectively, all of us, though we have little time to put in the effort due to our need to work and survive. It seems quite unfair for the majority, but to look to the future, perhaps one day, equality and peace may be attainable in the globe as an entirety.

We should not lose hope and the plot. There are tremendous injustices all around us that we take for granted and as par for the course. We should fine tune our democratic process so that we move towards justice for all. Even the whole system seems to work against the common folks but there is more awareness now as financial institutions are removing the veil of secrecy of money flowing across countries; some are illegal hoardings, others to avoid taxes. We need a clean-up of the system and modern technology can help - siva

It's an unfair society with the rich gaining all the rewards and the poor becoming poorer. If we could change the system to be more equal, it would be nice. I don't see that happening.

@Shiva49 The greed of the common man will be the collective man's downfall. I heard on the radio just this morning that China are now making 24 million cars a year, and the second biggest producer is still America, at 12 million cars a year. With that type of production rate, what hope have we for global warming, if that is really happening to us, as it appears to be? Everybody wants what everyone else has got, as to getting what we deserve, I would not like to be the judge on that one!

@innertalks I do hope electric cars can provide us the escape hatch and also cheap electricity from renewable energy . I read about breakthroughs in conversion efficiency of sunlight into electricity from the now below 20% to 30%. "Engineers just created the most efficient solar cells ever. Australian engineers have taken us closer than ever before to the theoretical limits of sunlight-to-electricity conversion, by building photovoltaic cells that can harvest an unheard-of 34.5 percent of the Sun's energy without concentrators - setting a new world record. The previous record of 24 percent was held by a large, 800-square centimetre solar cell produced by a US company, but these new photovoltaic cells aren't only more efficient, they also cover far less surface area, which means they're going to make solar power even cheaper." Hopefully, we can be saved at the nick of time! We need global consensus on basic issues but it has always been "getting even". We have all sinned, so let us turn a new leaf than point accusing fingers. Today I heard America is going to supply all the weapons they need to Vietnam to counter China! Who is behind this move and what is the real reason for the sudden concern for the erstwhile enemy! siva

Yeah, we become cynical as few run away with the spoils denying others their just dues. No harm the rich becoming richer but not at the cost of the poor. After all, no material possessions can be taken away from here. So cannot understand the need to accumulate till the last breath - siva

We have come a long way from here, and from this way of living. Is this good, or bad though?
Why is society like it is now? Why has it perhaps moved far away from the tribalness of aboriginals and Indian settlements and ways of living, nearly in all parts of the world now? The enigmaticness of living has lost its flavour because of this move away from collectiveness to individualism, and yet it is individualism, the move towards this way of living, that has progressed us all collectively now, so much so, with all of our latest mod-cons, and inventions. This paradox can only be explained by knowing that beneath the surface of society lays a collective mentality fed not by collectiveness, but by the one source of individualism collectively arranged, or by God in other words. The big boy in the sky still rules I suspect no matter what we are doing in his sand-pit here right now.

I wonder what is our role in the whole creative process? Are we indispensable like some think we are? Then, why are we more selfish than others though aware of the Creator and even think we are co-creators? Then what is progress - is it material comforts only? We seem to know the cost of everything at our fingertips but the value of nothing! Are we thinking more in terms of humanity or as individual parts with one god pitted against another? It is all predestined and we just go through the motions, not even foot solders? What will keep us going as a species with a role to make this a better place? Or we just cannot do by ourselves and need higher intervention? I think the jury is still out or maybe permanently! siva

@Shiva49 That's a lot of big ticketed questions there siva. Our role like all roles is simply to be our self in it all. Each part has their own part to play, and when they do so, they are also contributing to the whole process, but when they do not, they are missing being themselves, (their real selves) and so working in one way against the collective goals of God, but even this works for God in the end, as anything working against him is also still indirectly working for him, in a sense. Nothing can work against God. How is this possible? It is because this part, seemingly working against God, does not know that it even though it is not being its real self, all it does, even being its false self, still teaches or grows the whole in one way or another, even if it is only to dismiss parts of the journey that do not work, in the grand scheme of things, as all other parts also see the results of these parts not working, and so can decide to work better to be themselves, by not doing these things, these others are doing. Free will is a creative process that allows creation to move past its initial position into new vistas of itself, and when we are joining God in being our part in it all, we are part of this creative process then freely, but when we act against ourselves and God we too still add to it, but not quiet in the same way, so generously in the sense that we grow it consciously rather than just unconsciously automaton likely. Our negativeness still helps the positiveness, because positiveness always gains something from everything else too.

@innertalks Good points Steve, thanks. Yes, we have to believe that every action has a say in the final product - even those we consider as negative. They should go towards strengthening the core of the creative journey. Just like in a drama/film there should be villains especially in James Bond films! The Bard's words ring in me - "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players". In fact, the "villains" play crucial roles too taking in the mantle and showing others how not to be like them. That re-enforces the classic duality in creation to maintain the balance. We have an innate awareness and few try to understand more about life and reach a different realm adding to the variety. Everyone does not want to be run of the mill - siva
