Rootin Tootin Way too Much? Could Be Lactose Intolerant

Lately I have found that after consuming dairy products I become bloated and quite gassy. I have been hearing a lot about lactose intolerance and wondered if I may be getting a little less tolerant as I age.
So I purchased a supplement to take before I eat anything that has a lot of dairy. If I only have a small amount I am not worried. After I had a dish of rice pudding I was doubled over in pain from the gas. That alerted me to the possibility that I may have a problem.
Today I will find alternatives to milk. Going to try Coconut milk. Not giving up my half and half for coffee though.
Yes, even butterflies can have gas.

I am planning on buying coconut milk, which is lactose free. Less calories too so that is a win win for me!

I am going to try coconut milk first and see if there is a change. I have a bowl of cereal every morning with milk and found that I get bloated and have gas about an hour later. When I overdo the dairy I tend to get gas pains.

I have tried almond milk, but didn't care for it. I do like rice milk. Coconut milk is one that I want to give a try. I have heard that soy isn't good for post menopausal women.

@Jessicalynnt I have a client that uses the unsweetened. Must be good as she buys a lot of it.

I know there are lots of lactose free alternatives these days so hope you can find a substitute and not have a problem with dairy products

I'll start with coconut milk. I also have medicine that will help aid in the digestion of dairy products. Can't give them up entirely!

I have learned that I am becoming lactose intolerant but it isn't too bad. It is not fun at all.

I know some that have severe gas and diarrhea. Happily I am not one of them.

@ElusiveButterfly I get diarrhea sometimes but my doctor says that it might be okay for me because it boosts my metabolism. I shouldn't have dairy all the time but I shouldn't limit myself from it. I have never heard a doctor say that before XD

@DesirousDreamer has your doctor ever tested you for lactose intolerance? If not I would request it.

They say that you should have soy products if you are post menopausal. I am going to try coconut milk.

My plumbing has not been too happy with my food choices. At first I thought it was fats causing the problem, but hadn't eaten anything high in fat. Only the milk products that day.

I did take an antacid but got no results. Going to try to eliminate or at least cut down on dairy and take medicine that helps with digesting lactose.
