2016 – season 10 – spoiler alerts
The unexpected X-Files revival season was largely a disappointment in touching on the same old conspiracy notions without really progressing the story arc or the relationship of its leading agents.
The series did however produce this outstanding stand-alone self-mocking spoof episode that turned werewolf stories inside out, upside down and then some...
Mulder (David Duchovny) is undergoing a mid-life crisis as he wonders if his life-long obsession with proving there are UFO’s vampires, werewolves, etc. has been a life wasted chasing shadows. (yes, it has Mulder, sorry).
His despair is lifted as he investigates what seems to be a werewolf attack, only to discover that the victim (still living) was an alien, bitten by a crazed human drug addict who has infected the alien with human DNA forcing him to turn human a state the alien dislikes intensely). His story is so preposterous that Mulder doesn’t believe him until he sees the benevolent figure turn back into his alien self and run off to a million year hibernation.
Great deadpan humour, especially in the alien (Rhys Darby) trying to convince Mulder that he had sex with Scully. If only the rest of Season Ten had lived up to this.
The Youtube is the terrific X-Files inspired Catatonia song, Mulder And Scully.

@Asylum for the most part you would have been right but that one episode stands alone as genuinely brilliant

@arthurchappell The original series was the opposite, most episodes were good with a few poor ones.

Though an X-Files fan I do not care for the latest season.

I've honestly never watched the X Files. I know I'm in the minority.

well worth watching, especially the early episodes with a very creepy villain called Toombs

I did love that episode. The rest was a bit tired and obviously just introducing the opportunity for a spin off using the new characters but it was still nice to see them together again. My husband has since been binge watching the old series again.

The revival did have its good points. Good to see them back again. The spoof was cute. I was disappointed to learn it was just a few episodes. Maybe they will do something again.
