We are very proud because a Filipina, Jaclyn Jose, is this year's Cannes best actress. Television reports said she is the first Filipina who made it and also the first from Southeast Asia.
The film she acted on was "Ma'Rosa," where she portrayed a mother who tends a small store, but she sells illegal drugs to support her family.
The film is so timely because the incoming President Rodrigo Duterte aims to eradicate illegal drugs problem when he sits in office starting July 1, 2016.
I am excited to watch the film to see how Jacklyn Jose made it to the Cannes Film Festival.

I'll watch it too. I think it is an Indie film by Director Brillante Mendoza.

Yes, @JudyEv, we are so proud of her. She is one of my favorite local actresses because of her unique way of delivering her lines.

Yes, @marlina , she even claimed she is not a "superstar" here in our country. I think it is an independent film or locally known as Indie film; commonly about social realities.

Sounds like a poignant film. Jaclyn Rose must be strong if she won at Cannes.

Yes, Jacklyn Jose has a unique way of delivering her lines, and her facial expression best says her lines too! The director, Brillante Mendoza is good too.
