unexpected parcels

We came home last night to discover a note had been pushed through the letterbox. A delivery company had attempted to deliver something, and had subsequently left it in the back garden.
Have you ordered anything from Amazon? enquired my Husband, presumably thinking that I'd been spending copious amounts of money. Unlikely, seeing that they were addressed to him. I left him to get on with the hard job of opening the boxes {for there were two; one large, one small} and got on with more important stuff, like playing with the puddy-cats.
Um, we seem to have been sent a coffee machine and pods, said a surprised Husband. We ran through all the possibilities. It had been delivered to the wrong address? The order had been mixed up with someone else's {they won't be happy with a four-way plug adaptor!}? After some consideration and scratching of heads I urged him to check the invoice.
Oh wow, it's from my boss! he exclaimed.
This is his new boss, at the company he's only worked at since March turned into April. The attached note said thanks for helping his holiday go smoothly, as Husband has basically done the job of both of them for the past week.
I like this new boss! And it's probably fair to say that his new boss likes him and values him as an employee. There is much loveliness in the world sometimes.

Absolutely! The greedy part of me wishes it happened more often, but then it wouldn't be unexpected and fun!

The window cleaner came that day too ... I wonder if he was tempted?!

It's completely different to where I work. I'm lucky if my line manager buys us a teeny chocolate bar at Christmas!

Let's hope so! Maybe he'll even get a pay rise once his three month probationary time is up!

His boss is very thoughtful to have sent a gift when you least expect it.

@poppylicious Can I come and work for that man? When we were down on our luck with a new baby and no washing machine a washing machine addressed to us mysteriously appeared at our back door. Heaven collided with earth that day. Now it's nice to be in a position to help others out.

Oh, how sweet. Did you ever find out who your laundry angel was?

Sounds like the job/boss is a keeper!
