Why is it that only youngsters wreck cars?

Yesterday my daughter lent my granddaughter her car as she was coming here by other means. Today she called me with a story about A friend of Carolina driving, a bus getting in front of them and they had to drive the car to the curve with a batch and, end of story, by to one of the tires. The story always starts by saying thanks be given that nothing happened to the girl. But all the time that Carolina gets the car, the is a story of sorts and thanks be given. Yet even this ol´lady here can drive better in spite her poor eyes, in spite her hands. Sofía is too young to wreck cars so she destroys her mother´s tablets once in a while. They should be given wooden toys to play.

Does your grand daughter have a drivers license? How come her friend was driving and not the granddaughter though?

@infatuatedbby There are many things I would not allow if I were Claudia. But as I am only granny, I must stay quiet.

@marguicha That is not safe to have a friend drive her mom's car. I'm glad ultimately both are safe though.

Young people seem to be fearless and reckless.

Doesn't sound like this wreck was too much her fault or could be avoided, but most young people tend to like to show off on the road.

I heard it all from her now and there is only a tire destroyed. It wasn´t much of a deal. Caroilina replaced it by the spare tire and they went today to buy another one.

I wish it really was that only youngsters wreck cars... my car needed about $1,000 in mechanical repairs after my husband crashed it less than two years ago. Anyway, I honestly think it has something to do with their brain development. Our brains don't stop developing until we're in our mid-20's, and before that point we're not fully capable of thinking ahead and considering the consequences of our actions.

I mostly think that much has to do with how we get the money to repair something. If mommy pays, then it doesn´t matter.

My son was probably guilty of wrecking the most cars in our family compared to his sisters

Young ones are not cautious and are not extra careful nowadays. They don't dare to be responsible individuals. They are only concern of being happy always.

If they had to pay for the damages, they would be more careful. And if parents did not give them all they want, they would be more responsible because they would have to earn it.

Maybe because they did not have that sense of responsibility? I mean, they did not work hard to buy that car - they do not pay for it's insurance and maintenance, so it is easy for them to use it however they want. And since they know that their parents can never say no, and will never not bail them out in situations like this, they are reckless and careless.

It seems that Carolina was not even driving. Now I would not lend my mom´s car to a friend.

It's not only youngsters, my dad wrecked a couple cars in his 70's.

Maybe some older people don´t realise when they should stop driving.

I think they should learn to be cautious, it's not easy though. Usually only when they grow up that they learned to be cautious.

I wholly agree. But it seems that they have to learn by buying their own things with money they earned.
