Do You Believe That Kissing A Stone Can Make You A Better Speaker?

You might think that I am out-of-mind writing this. In some point, I didn’t believe it too. There is an Irish legend that kissing the Blarney Stone on top of the Blarney Castle will be given an amazing present to a kisser. Based on their belief, a kisser of the stone will become a better speaker . In history, Winston Churchill kissed the stone during his time. The strange thing to kiss the stone is to bend over backwards. I can’t imagine myself doing its body motion. I find it hard to do. All I can say is, the best way to improve speaking skills is to practice enunciating the English words and study the phonology of it. Photo Credit:

I think they have attendants there to help you lean over backwards to kiss the stone. Although we've been to Ireland several times we haven't been to this castle.

I too find it hard to believe that kissing a stone can improve one's speech. It's probably just a myth propagated by some guy who just want to have some fun.

I think its more of the desire of the person. I mean they believed the stone would change them and it did. Just like the Greek orator Demosthenes who put pebbles in his mouth and recited verses to cure his stuttering :)

@Dramista Old practices do work. In some call center companies, they also asked their agents to use a pencil or pen in their mouth.

Really?? Even if I kissed a stone I wouldn't do the speaking because I'm not confident speaking in public.
