First it was the furnace...

You may remember that my furnace broke down around the time of the ice storm, during the coldest week of the season. We went 4 days without heat. I tried to sleep next to the gas fireplace one night but it wasn't very comfortable at all. Well, today was the hottest day of the year so far and guess what? Our air conditioner went out. I am not kidding. I am so glad my daughter's boyfriend is in the business AND ready and willing to help us out. It took a long time to get this house cooled back down again. We think the A/C went down last night some time. It didn't start feeling cool again until mid-evening tonight. When hubby took the cover off the pool the water level was much lower than usual. He drains it to just below the pump hole but it was a lot lower than that. It took 24 hours to fill the pool. Yes, except for showers, we had the water on non-stop. I also ran the dishwasher and did a couple of loads of laundry. What a hydro bill we're going to have this month! (We pay for water). So what's the deal? Is my house falling down around us? Is someone out to get me? Is our house haunted? Or am I just unlucky as hell?

Sounds like the ghost in your house likes your daughter's boyfriend.

@patgalca Yeah, I suppose it would be too scary to think you have a ghost haunting your house. Has there ever been a time when you swear you put your keys somewhere and found them elsewhere? (Play the Twilight Zone music here.)

@patgalca Maybe the ghost keeps breaking things down so the ghost can watch him fix them. You know not all ghost are into scaring people. Some actually like people. And this ghost might especially like your daughter's boyfriend. Or maybe everything is just getting old and wore out.

@toniganzon Did I mention my shower is haunted? I am the only one who can't get full on hot water in the shower.

@patgalca I think it's not the shower which is haunted. I think it's you. Now i don't want to invite you in my house anymore.

Well, we also just spent over $1200 in car repairs, plus the cost of 4 new tires. It's a good thing I got that money from the government. We wouldn't be able to afford to fix any of these things.

My daughter's boyfriend told her that we don't maintain the upkeep of our home. He's not wrong. We haven't been able to afford to do much with it since I got sick. We've been here 20 years and we still haven't redone that master bedroom from the 1970's (which is when the house was built).

Could be even higher than we think... The air conditioning is not working again. We may have to get a new one. Meanwhile it's been running non-stop because the house hasn't been getting cool.

@miniam My husband was texting the BF tonight. I told him to ask him to price a new unit for us but he didn't. He is going to stop by after work tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot tomorrow. It's not supposed to.

@patgalca Maybe you have to think of getting a new AC than spending time and money on repairs then having to buy a new one still.See what will work better for you.

Goodness me! You are having a bad run. Lucky you have a 'built-in' repairman. :)
