Sleeping well with black out curtains!

I used to have a problem sleeping at night, especially staying up watching YouTube, browsing my phone and just being up all night. Then of course regretting it the next morning! Watching night become morning, so now I use my phone less and sleep better with these black out curtains. I used to wake up throughout the morning because of the light - but now I sleep up until my alarm clock. The only problem is getting out of bed and opening the blinds and curtains because it's bright and hurts my eyes. Regardless, I'm happy I'm getting a good nights rest these past few days and now forward! Do you have black out curtains or opaque curtains where the morning light doesn't shine in your face?

Yes i do but sometimes I used cartoon which the light can shine through. In February till August the sun rises at around 5:30 and I'm a morning person. I like the sun shine waking me up. Sun set in those months are at 6pm.

It's okay in our bedrooms but the TV room needs something to black out the sun in the summer.

That's good the bedroom is okay! Sometimes during the summer when watching tv, and the sun is shinning it could be a glare when watching the tv huh?

Thankfully, the night is long enough here that blackout curtains are not a necessity for all in the house. I am reminded of a film that brings out the importance regular periods of dark and light play in our routine:

Thats great the night is long enough so no black out curtains are needed.

@Lucky15 Right now behind me is my backyard and a small canyon - no neighbors. Hehe so I'll keep it like that.

I have sky-blue curtains in my room, but the sun's rays cannot penetrate in entering my room because my window faces west.

@Yar_Joey That is good. There is another room on the side of the home but its near a neighbor so I rather keep my current room situation.

I have thin curtains that the light shines in as it gets brighter in the morning. The light doesn't bother me quite as much as it did when I was young. My parent's hand blinds that you would pull to roll down and cover the windows. There was a sliver of light that would shine in on the sides. Any light at all kept me awake so I had to put things against the edges so no light at all could come in or I could not sleep. I am glad I do not have that hard of a time anymore.

i am a good sleeper but in the afternoons I cover my eyes. I do not have curtains but blinds and they do not darken the room.

I tried sleeping with a blindfold, doesn't work for me but glad it works for you! I don't like sun light too especially during the morning so the blackout curtains works great!

@SIMPLYD The material is opaque. The pattern is pretty and sun cannot shine through.

I use to have them when I worked midnights. I don't so much now but have a blind up. I don't know how people can go to bed with lights on or blinds open.

I, myself, like to sleep in complete dark. I would probably open the curtains while leaving the blinds shut for awhile to let my eyes gradually adjust to the light.

True, I think next time - when I wake up. I will go straight to the restroom, freshen up then open the blinds.

I prefer a complete darkness when I wake up, with my night lamp on!
