Peace on the Water

Last night we went to the Western Australian winery where Vince's photos are displayed to taste the new season's wines. The winery has created a 'club'. To join you need to buy 3 dozen bottles of their wine over the year. Their wine is dearer than we'd normally pay but they are friends and over a year the cost evens out as the wine is very nice and suitable to take with us whenever we need to take a wine if we're going out. So out of loyalty really, we joined.
We were treated to a tasting of all their new wines plus current ones so we could compare. We thought we would have nibbles but instead when the tasting was finished we sat down to borscht (beetroot soup), meatballs with mashed potato and finally a lovely poppyseed cupcake affair. All in all a very pleasant evening.
And the bonus was that Vince has sold two of his photos. One was of fisherpeople silhouetted against a sunset which I think I've put up here before. The one shown also sold and is, I think, my favourite one ever and was taken at Lake Phewa in Nepal. Of his Nepalese photos, Vince prefers one of the painted canoes which I think I've already put up on MyLot but I really think this one is nicer. If I've put it before, I apologise - but it's lovely enough to stand two 'showings', isn't it? And I told him it would sell! So I'm taking all the credit.

It certainly has an air of tranquility about it, doesn't it?

@JudyEv me too. did he alter the photo at all, or was this just the way it looked? Was it foggy?

@Jessicalynnt It was foggy and he tried to line it all up nicely. Occasionally he touches them up a bit - maybe increasing the contrast or something. And sometimes he makes them black and white which can look good. I don't like them altered too much really but to each his own. The programs now are so powerful and adaptable you can do almost anything. In a photo of an old shed you can glimpse just a bit of scaffolding through a window so he was able to black that out. I don't mind that sort of stuff but sometimes photos can end up looking more like paintings and I'm not so keen on that. I'll be away now for a week or so, so I'll catch up next time. Take care. :)

I agree completely. I only have to look at it and I feel more serene.

If you put this up before, I didn't get to see it, so I am glad you did, again, this is very beautiful, I love the pictures your husband paints.
I actually thought you went on a boat ride, because my neighbor invited us last night to take a ride on his boat, but I declined, wasn't feeling well. So when I do get a chance to take a boat ride, I am going to take some pictures, though they won't come close to this lovely piece.

@JudyEv Oh, that is cool, we only get the ugly plain ones when we rent a canoe.

Absolutely stunning. I think I might have bought it myself if I was there. So peaceful.

What a beautiful photo .... he's such a talented man... does he paint pictures from his photos? Are they water colour or oil based..?
