Here's some tips on taking care of your skin this summer:
1. Cover up- A lot of young people wear as little as possible most of the time and end up getting a bad sunburn at some point in the summer. Those who are light complected are most vulnerable. Light colored, lightweight, long-sleeved pants and shirts are best this time of year. Wearing a nice sun hat is a good idea too.
2. Sunscreen- They have sunscreen now that is water resistant. It's a good idea to choose s UVB and UVA screening product and reapply every 2 hours. Don't forget to apply it along the hairline, on the scalp and part.
3. Hydrate- Many of us drink sodas and hate water. Sugar free and diet aren't what they are cracked up to be. Remember that each of our organs needs water to help it do its job. Dehydration can be fatal. Water also helps the skin to be healthy, smooth and glowing. If you don't care for water try putting some lemon or lime in fresh, filtered water and see what you think.
4. Skin Treatment- You can keep a spray bottle of cold water nearby to spritz yourself with if you get over heated. This will help to evaporate heat away from your skin. It's a good idea to rinse off after swimming to remove chlorine and bacteria off your body. Pat your skin dry and then use a moisturizer. When you shower at home it is a good idea to exfoliate all of your body(don't forget the neck). This will help you have a better tan and healthier without old, dry skin.

A child, teen, younger person, who gets a super bad sunburn has the potential for developing skin cancer later in life. I have olive skin thanks for my Cajun roots. I tan when the air turns warm. I might get a little pink on my arms and shoulders the first few times in the pool, but that's it, I'm good the rest of the summer.

@AbbyGreenhill ....Great! Those who wear flowery perfumes seem to be ones the moquitoes like.

I also try to stay out of the sun, I could care less if that means I stay pasty longer!

I used to use a moisturizer that has some tint in it so I am not pasty. Even tanning towelettes. Now I am with you. Pasty it is.

@celticeagle I carry sunscreen in my purse now. I guess I'll always be prepared even though I forget it's in there sometimes!

I would hate for any of us to get a burn and I think it is going to be a scorcher this summer.

@celticeagle I agree. I burn easily before I tan.
