URGENT- What Do You Think? Tech Question

I am installing Windows 10 on my laptop Thursday. I have been told Microsoft has built in strong anti-virus protection into the program. Is this good enough, or should I continue to use Trend Micro Anti-virus+ protection?
I would love your opinion, especially if you are into tech, and/or have experience with Windows 10 already. What did you do?
UPDATE: I upgraded to Windows 10 today, but had to have help from the guys at the Microsoft store. HP puts some security on their laptops that I had difficulty removing. Once that was done, I did the change at home. I've noticed a few glitches already, like it doesn't like my MyLot link, but I'll figure it out, eventually.

Windows 10 comes with windows defender in the system. When I bought my laptop, AVG came with an option to buy it at the end of some momths. I haven´t been able to use windows defender, since my laptop is broke now, but I´ve heard people saying that the antivirus inlcuded in windows 10 works perfectly.

Thanks. I would love to have more opinions from people who actually use the Windows 10 antivirus.

Thanks for sharing the information with us about Windows 10. My boyfriend will bring my laptop to me soon and I am going to test it after our trip next week. I hope I will not have any problem with my Windows 10.

@annierose Good luck. The guys at the Microsoft store offered to help me if I have problems. If you have one in your area, they will probably do the same for you.

I have a Windows 10 computer and have virus problems with it. My last computer was an 8.1 and I installed Windows 10 on it. It did not last long, maybe a couple of months and it crashed.
I have had this Win 10 computer for a month or two and already had viruses on it. I use an antivirus and have a premium MalwareBytes program and still have problems. I don't open spam mail or email from people I don't know. I wish I could get away from MS. It is worst on the Edge browser for me.

@ElizabethWallace My son put Avira on it. He removed Norton, which came with it. I want to get rid of Avira but don't know whether to trust MS antivirus because MS has so many scams.

Did you keep the Microsoft antivirus when you added the other one? I was told, only one antivirus program per computer, or it would cause problems.
I have Windows 7 right now and Trend antivirus, with no problems with either.

@akalinus I like Trend, and no one so far has said the MS Defender is anything except okay. Not a rousing recommendation.

They really don't give us any choice. We have to move on, but we don't have the know how to make the choices we are given. Use Microsoft's anti-virus or a third party source? I have no clue what is best.

@ElizabethWallace I have just read the news that Microsoft has a problem with their anti SPAM filters and people using Hotmail and Outlook are experiencing a serious SPAM problem.

@LadyDuck I think I will be using the free version of Avast, which is what Barry uses. I looked it up and the professional reviews are much better than Trend, which is much better than Microsoft Defender.

I heard that before, but now the people who hated it have changed their minds. It is better now than when it first came out, or their opinions have changed. I uses icons more than lists for functions, and some people are freaked by that. But I have had an iPad for several years, and I'm used to them by now. Hopefully I'll be okay. If not, I'll take a class.
